TYJA handled the red hot Reds Astros 21-13 in their opener then shut down Laservision 13-7 and Shoppe 15-4 with some great infield defense. In the winner's bracket championship they used the offense to win 27-16. On Sunday in the finals they led R&M 8-6 going into the 7th but gave up 3 runs and were unable to score in the bottom of the 7th with runners on and had to play the "if" game.
4th Place – TYJA – Suncoast Reebok
Conf 'A' from Great Neck, NY 4-2 Record
TYJA-Reebok looked like the team to beat with their quick 25-10 win over Sonny's on Friday night. Then they laid an egg against R&M on Saturday in a 16-3 loss. Ouch. They recovered to knock out two of the top 'A' teams in the loser's bracket in Shoppe and Demarini/Dirty, then beat Headhunters to make it to Sunday where they lost to Line Drive Sportz with the bats in their hands in the bottom of the 7th. A tough way to finish the 'A' Worlds and I thought they were the only team left on Saturday night that had enough left in the tank to have a chance to double dip R&M.

Maryland Major NIT
TYJA-Suncoast Reebok continued their recent hot streak by winning their first Conference tournament of the season in dominating fashion by going 5-0 and beating Team Combat/Pacific Headwear in the championship game 20-4. TYJA was led by MVP pitcher TJ Thompson and Offensive MVP Jason Baxter. TYJA won all but one of their games by 12 or more runs.

Conf 'A' from Great Neck, NY 5-2 Record
TYJA won their first 3 games of the tournament, including a 29-28 win over Nordkap/Desert Falls in the semi-finals when Michael Stephany hit a walk off homer. After Laservision dropped them to the loser's bracket 31-21, TYJA won a game that ended after midnight against Shoppe 38-37 after trailing by 5 late in the game. On Sunday morning TYJA came from 6 down with two outs and no homers to beat Team 454 26-25!

TYJA beat Demarini/Dirty early in the tournament when they put up a huge 6th inning to finally separate from Dirty. Then Shoppe smoked them on the show field in the final 8. In the losers bracket TYJA knocked off two major teams Nordkap and Combat, before dropping a late Saturday slugfest to Laservision 45-41.

TYJA – Suncoast Reebok got flat out beat by Linedrive in the 2nd round 24-16. They dropped into a nasty part of the losers bracket and quickly ran into Resmondo. Trailing mid way, they took the lead and separated from Resmondo in the 5th I think it was and the defense held up in a 26-25 victory. A lot of teams would have called it a successful weekend defeating Resmondo the #2 team in the nation but TYJA-Suncoast had to play #1 ranked Demarini/Dirty next and they promptly sent Dirty home 25-18. Two huge wins for a team that has lacked consistency but seems to get up for the big games and play down for the not so big games. An "every game is big" approach is needed and I think you need to be able to win 4 in a row to win the 'A' worlds. TYJA was sent home by Shoppe Saturday evening 19-4. I didn't see this game, not sure what went wrong in that one?

TYJA infield, SS Luis Reyna, MI Dennis Rulli, 2B Victor Cordova, 1B David Kessler
TYJA-Suncoast Reebok was crushing teams one after the other, D2E, 454, then they started to do the same thing against Demarini/Dirty with that impressive 13 run first inning before the wheels came off a little and the momentum swung Dirty's way and TYJA fell by the wayside. On Sunday they got beat by Shoppe in a close game and really need a win there to try and get revenge on Dirty.

TYJA/Suncoast Reebok GTGG
Conf 'A' from Great Neck, NY 10-4 Record
The merger of TYJA and Suncoast Reebok is a success. This team is playing loose, free, and fast. The team was led this weekend by 3rd baseman Dennis Rulli who pretty much did whatever he wanted with the softball as he place hit it all over the field for extra base hits. In the first tournament TYJA/Suncoast run ruled Magic, Monster, Buzini, and Team Demarini and lost a 33-30 game to Laser Vision and did get beat down by Team 454. But they did finish 5th.
